Jeonbuk aims for turning point against ‘absolute dominance’ Seoul

“Make a turning point”.

Jeonbuk Hyundai will play in the 20th round of the “Hana Bank K League 1 2024” against FC Seoul at 7 p.m. on the 29th at Jeonju World Cup Stadium.

Jeonbuk, contrary to its traditional reputation, is ranking 12th with 16 points (three wins, seven draws and nine losses), the lowest at the end of the 19th round. It is unprecedented for Jeonbuk, which has the most prestigious K-League championships, to fall to the bottom by mid-season. To overcome this crisis, Jeonbuk has replaced Dan Petrescu and appointed Kim Doo-hyun.

Under coach Kim Doo-hyun, Jeonbuk’s performance is gradually improving. It also played well against Pohang on the 26th, but unfortunately, it ended in a draw. Jeonbuk is aiming for victory by scoring runs from Taigo, which has survived recruitment such as Han Kook-young.

What is good for Jeonbuk is that it has been absolutely strong against Seoul. Jeonbuk has no loss in 21 matches against Seoul. In terms of duration, it has been undefeated in 21 matches against Seoul for seven years since July 2017.

Jeonbuk was different this season against Seoul. It was a game where Jeonbuk in Gyeonggi Province showed its potential against Seoul on April 20. Despite Song Min-gyu’s first goal in the sixth minute, Jeonbuk allowed 10 bings of Ilyushchenko in the first half and Palosevic in the 30th minute, pulling the score to 1-2.

He allowed a quick lead in an away game. Despite such a crisis, Jeonbuk’s Lee Young-jae scored a goal in the 38th minute of the first half against Seoul, and Jeon Byeong-gwan scored in the 4th minute of the second half. Since then, he has defended all of Seoul’s offensives and won the game.

Despite such sluggish conditions, he still showed a championship winning mentality against Seoul. Currently, Jeonbuk is not satisfied with the draw and only needs a victory. Jeonbuk has no victory at home for more than two months until just before the match against Seoul.

If the team wins the match, it will be able to closely trail the ninth-ranked group, Incheon United, and Daegu FC (both 20 points), with 19 points, but if it goes wrong, it will end up in a swamp that cannot be escaped. For Jeonbuk, it is a game in which it desperately needs to win in order to survive. 스포츠토토

Jeonbuk is currently ranked 12th. Still, given its accumulated history, it is a team that can and should rebound. Attention is focusing on whether Jeonbuk, which has reached the guillotine, will be able to make a turning point by reporting its home win against the absolutely dominant Seoul in a long time.
