Re-signing? Transfer? Kim Dong-joon’s sincerity, “My number one priority is Jeju.”

Kim Dong-joon of Jeju United is considered one of the top goalkeepers of the K League 1. The soccer community evaluates Kim as a goalkeeper who can compete with Cho Hyun-woo (32, Ulsan HDFC).

Kim Dong-joon made his professional debut in Seongnam FC in the 2016 season and played for Daejeon Hana Citizen. He has been in charge of Jeju’s goal starting from the 2022 season.

Kim Dong-joon has six months left to sign his contract with Jeju. It is time for Jeju to renew its contract with Kim. According to soccer officials, the K League 1 teams are showing great interest in Kim Dong-joon. “I can clearly state that my No. 1 priority is Jeju,” Kim said. We listened to Kim Dong-joon’s story at a clubhouse in Seogwipo, Jeju.

Q. It’s summer. I played three games a week last week. Do you have any difficulties taking care of yourself.
Every summer is the most difficult. Especially, Jeju Island is humid and has more weather changes than other places. Of all summer games, there are the most. Home-away-home-away schedule is twice as difficult as other teams. To put it simply, it’s summer when you have to go back and forth between work and home. It’s hard to imagine any other schedule.

Q. It’s hard to adjust to Jeju’s expedition.

It’s probably more than you think. It’s incredibly difficult. For example, five hours away is incredibly short. It’s not easy because it often takes longer than that. The hardest thing is to return to Jeju Island the next day after the away game. If the away game kicks off at 7 p.m., we can’t return to Jeju Island. We don’t have a plane. We have to kick off at 4:30 p.m. at the latest to be able to return late at night.

Players can’t sleep well after night games. As fever does not go down, it is very difficult to fall asleep on time. All players will agree. As players have to travel a long distance the day after the game without sleeping well, they have to take care of their conditions.

Q. I’ve been keeping the goal of Jeju since the 2022 season. It’s my third year in Jeju. Do you have any tips for taking care of your body.
As the game approaches, we spend more time at home. For example, there is one game a week. Five days before the game, I go to a nearby cafe and spend time with my acquaintances. It’s my way to relieve the pressure and stress of the game. I do all the housework four days before the game. I do nothing at home for three days. After training, watching TV in bed seems to be my only leisure.

Q. Is there a reason why you spend your time like that.

I’m trying to save as much energy as possible. When I was young, I did individual exercises at least twice a day regardless of my schedule. I don’t do that anymore. I felt that my stamina was really exhausting. Especially in Jeju, the travel distance is quite long, so I have to check my muscle fatigue. When I feel like I don’t have enough exercise, I only do my core exercises with the help of my trainer. To the extent that I sweat a little.

Q. As mentioned earlier, it’s your third year in Jeju. How much is Kim Dong-joon growing in Jeju. 먹튀검증

To be honest, I’m a little disappointed. I made my professional debut with Seongnam, a civic club, and experienced a corporate team called Daejeon Hana Citizen. It was the time when Daejeon re-established itself from a civic club to a corporate club. Afterwards, I came to Jeju. SK is a club whose parent company is the conglomerate. Perhaps that’s why I feel sorry that the team’s performance is not meeting the expectations of the soccer community.

In his first season in Jeju, he ranked fifth, but he couldn’t be satisfied. When I look at the team’s composition, I think, “I could have done better.” Last season, he finished ninth in the K League 1. We need to finish the season in a better position for our fans, but I feel sorry that it doesn’t go our way. I have to work harder first.
