‘Four-game losing streak’ Samsung commander diagnoses problem as ‘limiting outlying resources’

“The limitation of outlying resources is a challenge.” That’s the diagnosis of Seoul Samsung head coach Eun Hee-seok.

Samsung lost 69-77 against the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis in the first round of the 2023-2024 Korean Professional Basketball League at Dongcheon Gymnasium in Ulsan on Monday. The team finished the third quarter tied (52-52), but it was painful to lose the momentum at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

The loss was Samsung’s fourth in a row and sixth in a row (2-2). It was also their 17th consecutive loss away from home.

It was a disappointing game for Samsung. Hyundai Mobis lost Lee Woo-seok to a tailbone bruise before the game. On top of that, Gage Prim was ejected in the third quarter for a technical foul and a U-foul. It’s hard to imagine a different outcome if they had taken the lead after that.

Kofi Coburn (23 points, 10 rebounds) and Lee Jung-hyun (14 points, 3 assists) led the offense, but a lapse in concentration when it mattered most brought them to their knees.

Samsung head coach Eun Hee-seok expressed his frustration with the losing streak.

After the game, Eun visited the interview room in his captain’s capacity and said, “I think we’re feeling the effects of the losing streak. I think the younger players need to fulfill my orders, but they seem to have a tendency to handle things on their own. As a coach, I think I need to instill more training and promised movements into the younger players,” he said, summarizing the game.

Samsung is not immune to injuries either. Currently, Cha Min-seok and Shin Dong-hyuk are out of the lineup due to injuries, and recently, rookie Jo Jun-hee (19, 187 cm), an ambitious selection in the rookie draft, was added to the injury list.

For a team with a thin roster, the injury bug is not a good thing. Despite paying more attention to recovery training than last season, Samsung has been plagued by injuries.

Head coach Eun Hee-seok diagnosed the recurring defeats as a result of “limited outside resources.

He said, “There are a lot of problems in a chain, but the biggest challenge is the limitation of outside resources. Lee Jung-hyun is being blocked by all teams, and other players need to be able to create from the outside. Especially in close games, we need to score from the outside and it’s not happening, so we’re overloading (Kofi) Coburn. The more we lose, the more sensitive we are to referee calls and the more frustrated we get.” 보스토토 주소

Samsung will need to find a breakthrough on the road if they want to end their losing streak as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Samsung welcomes neighboring Seoul SK to Anbang on Nov. 11 for the first S-Derby of the season.
