The Australian Professional Baseball League (ABL) officially announced on the 15th that “Geelong Korea will not participate in the 2023-2024 season league.”

“It was a difficult decision. It’s sad that Geelong Korea is leaving the ABL, but after discussions with all parties, we made this decision for the benefit of the league, its teams, corporate partners and fans,” explained ABL CEO Glenn Williams.

Recently, the Auckland Tuatara club, based in New Zealand, has been twisted by announcing their absence from the league. The league, which had been an 8 system, became a 7 club system. While contemplating how to operate the odd-numbered team system, the ABL decided to run the league with 6 teams in Australia, excluding Geelong Korea.

Geelong Korea was founded in October 2018 and digested the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons. Since then, I have not been able to play two seasons in the aftermath of Corona 19, and I rejoined the league last season and recorded 13 wins and 27 losses in 40 games.

Once you can’t participate in the next season, but you can participate in the season after that. Williams said he would continue to work with the KBO.

“It wasn’t easy for an international baseball team based in Australia,” said Williams.
