KFA explains ‘controversy over unconfirmed email’, “We confirmed it verbally and were in the process of coordinating”

The Korea Football Association responded to the controversy surrounding the selection of Lee Kang-in over the unconfirmed email from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The Asian Games national team, led by coach Hwang Seon-hong, will challenge for its third consecutive victory at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. To recreate its glory, Korea summoned its best resources. Among them, the one who was selected as the key was Lee Kang-in.

Lee Kang-in is also classified as a key resource in the A national team. Lee Kang-in, who played a big role in Mallorca last season, changed his uniform to PSG. Here, the issue of recruitment emerged as a variable. It is known that Lee Kang-in reached an agreement with the Mallorca club to be selected for the Asian Games. However, he went back to square one when he transferred to PSG.

PSG coach Luis Enrique, who visited Korea last month, gave a general answer to Lee Kang-in’s selection, saying, “At the moment, I don’t know much,” and “I understand that when going to international competitions, an official request is made to the club and they respond accordingly.”

A tug-of-war negotiation continued, and the thread was not resolved until five days before the first game. Coach Hwang met with reporters at the Paju National Team Training Center (NFC) on the morning of the 14th and said, “PSG decided to give us an answer by the 13th, but there is no answer when they will send Lee Kang-in.”

Then, this afternoon, a new story emerged at the A team’s return home. One media quoted the association as saying, “There is an email sent from PSG,” and “The person in charge is flying in from London with the A team. “It is expected that the details will be revealed in the evening.”

Fans criticized the situation in which they could not check their emails right away ahead of an important selection issue. If I had known that the email had arrived, the content of Director Hwang’s interview could have been different.

An association official explained on the 15th, “We just said that we confirmed it verbally, it does not mean we failed to check the email.” He explained, “An email came and there was mention of conditions,” and “It was a situation where I couldn’t share everything because it was being negotiated at the last minute.” He added, “For more details, the person in charge told me to contact him as he would be returning to Korea soon.” He added, “At that time, coordination was still in progress.”

In the end, PSG allowed Lee Kang-in to be selected. The association announced on this day, “As a result of discussions with PSG, it was finally agreed that Lee Kang-in will join after the UEFA Champions League (UCL) match against Borussia Dortmund on the 19th local time.”먹튀검증

He added, “Lee Kang-in will move to Hangzhou, China on the 20th local time to join the Asian Games national team.”

The Association said, “On the 13th, we received an email from PSG saying that they would allow selection for the Asian Games on the condition that the Asian Cup selection schedule be adjusted,” and “We discussed with PSG until late at night on the 14th, and finally received an official response that allowed them to join the national team without any other preconditions.” “I received it,” he said.

As the timing of Lee Kang-in’s joining was decided, Hwang Seon-hong’s competition management plan also became clear. Starting with the match against Kuwait on the 19th, Hwang Seon-hong will clash with Thailand on the 21st and Bahrain on the 24th. As Lee Kang-in plays against Dortmund, it is expected that he will appear from the third game of the group stage.
