Mets, likely to stick with Reilly next year… $6.5 million club option, $1.25 million buyout if waived

Brooks Reilly (New York Mets) is expected to remain with the Mets next year.

Mets local media recently predicted that the Mets will exercise the club’s option for 2024, considering that Reilly is a left-hander that the team needs. Next year’s annual salary is $6.5 million. Reilly also reportedly said he wanted to stay with the Mets.토토사이트

Ahead of the 2022 season, Reilly signed a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Rays for $10 million, with a club option for $6.5 million in 2024. He was traded to the Mets before this season. If the club option is not exercised, Reilly can enter the free agent market with a buyout of $1.25 million.

After recording an ERA of 2.68 in Tampa Bay last year, Reilly is recording a respectable ERA of 2.94 with the Mets this year on the 15th (Korean time).

Reilly’s strength lies in his ability to strike out. He struck out 65 batters in 49 innings for the Houston Astros in 2021, and had 61 strikeouts in 53.2 innings last year. He also struck out 52 batters in 49 innings this year.

The Mets agonized over the issue of Reilly’s trade until this year’s trade deadline, but kept him because he was the team’s only left-hander in the bullpen.

Reilly played as an ace for the KBO Lotte Giants for five years.

Reilly, who did not renew his contract with Lotte after the 2019 season, is trying again in the major leagues. He successfully entered the big leagues after signing a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds, but was traded to Houston during the 2020 season.
