Miami ‘furious’ over game cancellation due to ground conditions… Mets owner apologizes

It is the end of the season when one win is desperately needed. We have no choice but to respond sensitively to even small variables.

Citing a source on the 27th, ‘The Athletic’ shared a story about how Miami Marlins officials were furious when they visited Citi Field to play an away game against the New York Mets.

The two teams were scheduled to play last Tuesday local time, but the game was cancelled. A double header will be held one day later.

The reason for cancellation is unique. It was not ‘bad weather’ but ‘ground conditions’. According to The Athletic, the rain stopped at Citi Field around 5 PM local time on this day, but the game was canceled around 8 PM due to poor ground maintenance.

This is a scene that is difficult to see in the major leagues, which have good drainage facilities and specialized ground management personnel.

It doesn’t matter to the Mets, who have already failed to advance to the postseason, but Miami is different. The local kids are competing with the Chicago Cubs for the third place in the wild card.

In this situation, Braxton Garrett, the most reliable pitcher among the remaining starting pitchers, was postponed by a day and was unable to appear in the final game of the season on Sunday. This is a huge loss for Miami.먹튀검증

The Athletic reported that Marlins officials blamed Citi Field grounds managers for not covering the infield in time despite the rain last weekend.

Citi Field grounds managers belatedly covered the tarpaulin, but the infield was already wet from rain and was covered with a tarp, ruining the field’s condition.

Mets owner Stephen Cohen also apologized to the Marlins on Twitter that day.

“I sincerely apologize to the Marlins team and fans for the cancellation of the previous night’s game,” he said. “We knew how important this series was to the Marlins and we did everything we could to get the field ready for the game.”

Is this an aftereffect of the postponement of the game? Miami starter Garrett took the mound in the first game of the doubleheader held a day later, but was demoted after performing poorly, allowing 3 hits, 2 home runs, 2 walks, 2 strikeouts, and 4 runs in 4 innings.
