“Scheduled to be announced in May” KFA is at the end of the process of appointing a coach for the A national team… Weighted as a foreign coach?

The Korea Football Association (KFA) is nearing the end of its process of appointing the next A national team coach.

KFA is expected to hold a power reinforcement committee on the 30th to compress the candidates for the head coach of the A team.

Jeong Hae-sung, chairman of the Power Enhancement Committee, said earlier this month that there are 11 leaders (4 Koreans and 7 foreigners) in the candidate group for the next A national team coach. The candidates were selected again through video-face-to-face interviews, and on the same day, the Power Enhancement Committee is expected to outline more distinct candidates for the coach.

Hwang Sun-hong, the coach of the U-23 national team who served as the interim head coach of the A team during the A match in March, was naturally excluded from the list of candidates due to his failure to advance to the finals at the Paris Olympics.

New head coaches include Jesse Marsch, who recently led Leeds United, and former FC Seoul coach Sheñol Günesch.

A number of foreign media, including Britain’s Daily Mail, said on the 30th (Korea Standard Time), “The most likely candidate for the coach position of the Korean national soccer team, which is vacant, is coach Jesse Marsch.”

Jesse Marsch won the Major League Soccer (MLS) ‘Coach of the Year’ in 2015, and started to make his name known to the world of soccer. He moved to Salzburg (Austria) in 2019 and reached the top of the league for two consecutive seasons. At that time, he had a teacher-student relationship with Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton).

Jesse Marsch took the helm of Leeds United in the English Premier League in March 2022. However, he was sacked in February last year due to poor performance. He has been jobless ever since. He has no experience leading a national team.

A native of Turkiye, Guinezhu is no stranger to Korean soccer fans. He led the Turkiye national team to third place during the 2002 World Cup Korea-Japan. He led FC Seoul for three years from 2007. 안전놀이터
